I hope you’re enjoying my interviews with some of
the fabulous ladies who are part of The Dating Game anthology published by
Brown Girls Books. Today, I welcome LaChelle Weaver to The Reading Life with
Yolanda.
Briefly, introduce
yourself to the readers.
Hello everyone! I’m
LaChelle Weaver, a native North Carolinian, avid reader and lover of
storytelling. My love of reading and writing spans back to childhood where
instead of playing outside like other kids, I could be found in my bedroom
curled up with a book or crafting a story on my electric typewriter. I loved
that typewriter!
Please tell us what
your story; We Ain’t the Huxtables
is all about? I love the title by the way. Thanks! I’d had that
title in my head for quite some time. I don’t know where it came from, but I
knew it was a story I wanted to write. We Ain’t the Huxtables is about a
single, successful woman who’s missing her Mr. Right. Martika, the main
character has been unlucky in love with a series of failed relationships and
dating mishaps, but that may all change when someone from her past resurfaces.

You’re at the night
club with your date, what’s that one song that will get you up on the dance
floor?
LOL! I’m not a
nightclub person. I never have been, but if I were probably, “Tambourine” by
Eve. Every time I hear it, I can’t help but to start dancing.
If your short story was
turned into a made for TV movie, who would you want to play the roles? Hmmm…that’s a tough one! I hadn’t even considered this. I have a
favorite actor and actress, but I’m not sure they would fit these characters.
I’ll have to ponder this question further. It’s a good one though!
Is this your first published
work? If no, please tell us your other works. How does it feel to be a
published author?
We Ain’t the
Huxtables is my first published work. It’s an awesome feeling to now be a
published author and to have my dreams come into fruition. I never would’ve
imagined becoming a twice #1 Bestselling author in such a short timeframe. I’m
still in awe, and it motivates me to keep going as far as I can.
What are you currently
reading?
The Dating Game, of
course! I’ve really enjoyed reading the other ladies stories. Everyone is so
talented and I can’t wait to read more of their work, past and future.
Are you working on
anything new?
Yes. I’m currently
writing the sequel to We Ain’t the Huxtables which will be a novella, and my
debut novel, Sunday Dinner.
How can readers stay
connected to you?
They can connect
with me on my website, lachelleweaverwrites.com where I’ll also be blogging
(LaChelle Writes). I’m also on Facebook, Twitter (@luvwrds94), Instagram
(luv_words) and Pinterest. So, follow me! I welcome new friends.
